Cavalleria Rusticana

Two news stories — this one and this one — showed up in the first news feed I looked at today, and I immediately thought of Godfather III. In that movie the pope dies and a conclave is formed to elect a new one, much as we’re seeing now. Also in that movie: Puzo & Coppola recalled real life and had Frederick Keinszig — “God’s Banker” — killed & hung for wronging the Corleones. The real man dubbed “God’s Banker”, Roberto Calvi, was found hung in a similar manner in 1982; today police charged four people with his murder. One of the four charged: a woman named Manuela Kleinzig.

Life imitates art imitates life.
