I’ve never been the biggest Kevin Bacon fan. I fucking hate Footloose. Some of his supporting roles have been ok (JFK, Apollo 13, Mystic River, etc.) but for the most part he’s not one of my favourites. But he deserves all the praise he’s gotten for his role in The Woodsman (imdb | rotten tomatoes). He swung from victimized & sympathetic to creepy & disturbed, and took us with him. Obviously part of the praise for that has to go to director Nicole Kassell, and much of the tone of the film came from the supporting characters, especially Kyra Sedgwick and Mos Def.
One of the best movies I’ve seen all year. It’s very uncomfortable at times, but definitely worth watching.
Nothing like a little Atari Teenage Riot to wake one up in the morning.
“Fuck All” indeed.
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that some electronics companies are refunding the $25 ‘anti-piracy levy’ they charged their customers for MP3 players. I’m not even on the list of companies that’s doling out refunds; I just love the fact that the CRIA is getting their noses rubbed in it.
Hoo hah. My “Music + Science = Sexy” t-shirt arrived today.
Listen here, Globe and Mail, if you won’t let us read your columnists’ content without signing up and paying you $8 a month, then DON’T PUT MASSIVE SPOILERS IN THE FUCKING HEADLINES!!! You just ruined two years worth of Six Feet Under for me.
Assholes.
My little friend, and former co-op student punching bag, is so wrapped up with work and her impending wedding that I had to make her a CD to clue her in on the good music that’s floating around out there.
Google news has just nicely summed up the position of the three major Canadian newspapers: the Globe, the Post and the Star. The headlines all track the same story: Conservative leader Stephen Harper’s visit to Toronto to discuss his new alternative-to-Kyoto transit credit plan.
What the hell is going on in Toronto lately? 21 shooting victims in two weeks?
Why’s it getting so bad all of a sudden? Sudden influx of guns? Drug wars? Gang tensions? Full moon?
I’m so sick of reading about management skill development and negotiation. Blah blah, wank wank wank. I’m almost looking forward to economics…
