Overdosing

Since watching No Direction Home I’ve been flooding my ears with Bob Dylan songs and various concerts. I could seriously listen to Bob and The Band play “Baby Let Me Follow You Down” on The Last Waltz a dozen times in a row and not get sick of it. Same with the Clancy Brothers singing “When The Ship Comes In”.

  1. I’ve obviously felt this way for a long time, but seeing No Direction Home and all that early footage really drove home how incredibly vital, creative, and influential Bob Dylan was. I find it hard to imagine who among today’s music stars might be filling that role for the future.

You’re right, the kind of gift – I don’t think that’s too overblown a word – he gave us makes me feel all squoodgy inside.
