Aaaaaaaaaaand I'm spent

Quick exam, so I got out of there by 10:00. No waiting around, so socializing, so lunch, no goodbyes. I just want to go home, play with my cats, sit on my couch and hug my baby when she gets home.

As always, I have the Arcade Fire pounding my ears for the cab ride home. Thanks guys. See you again in September.

Studying done. Beer consumed. Packing begun. Karaoke avoided (although I did hear PacMan rip off a killer version of “Cracklin’ Rosie”).

Time for some sleep.

Paper #1 is 98% done. Paper #2 is nearly there, just requiring integration and some final touches.

Dinner has nasty tonight, so we placed our regular Thursday night pizza order and relaxed in the bar for a while. I now have a couple of hours to answer some emails, make some final edits and review my notes before tomorrow’s exam. I like being at this stage, when there’s really nothing left to do.

16 hours and I should be home. Kickass.

The Independent tells it like it is:

“Iraq is going to hell in a hand-basket. The trade and budget deficits are spinning out of control, and petrol prices have gone through the roof. Yet the US Senate has devoted two days to a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage that everyone knew had not the slightest hope of passage.

In the event the body that calls itself – without a blush of embarrassment – the ‘greatest deliberative body on Earth’ yesterday backed by 49-48 a procedural motion to end debate and bring the measure to a formal vote.”

I think it’s more than Iraq that’s going to hell in a hand-basket.

Torontoist spots an asshat parking his H2 in a handicapped parking spot. The Star says Bob Cole needs to retire from calling hockey, and I agree. He should take Harry Neale with him. Still with The Star, Ben Rayner asks if Radiohead is overrated. Not a chance, sez I. Finally, two links from Yes But No But Yes: super cuteness and super ugliness.

Last day of the class (save tomorrow’s exam). I’m a little tired, but it’s par for the course on the Thursdays. We’re in good shape, project-wise; a few things to tie up and put together and we’re home free.

Since dinner tonight I’ve had two ice cream bars, two cans of diet pepsi and six chocolate covered coffee beans.

I am not tired. Go figure.

Since we just now finished working I’m having a beer to try to bring me back down. Hooray for depressants.

Comin’ up on the 2/3 mark of the course. I’m taking an hour to start putting my portion of the report into something humans can read, then eat, then circle back with the rest of the group. I’m mostly keeping the cold at bay…just have to hold on for another 43 hours or so and I’m all good.

Must…tear self…away from Simpsons episode…

Our prof is sick so we kind of got the morning off to work on our projects. However, since my brain doesn’t really spin up until about noon, I’m not getting a lot accomplished. Pity.

Reading Toronto holds up Timothy Findley’s Headhunter as an example of what the city might be like if there’s an avian flu crisis. Hopefully, though, without the insane librarians loosing characters from books into the real world.

Speaking of Headhunter, I know I lent my copy to someone years ago, but I can’t remember who.

The Onion takes a swing at Canada’s recent terror suspect arrests.

“See, when folks aren’t all consumed by how they’re going to pay for their operations and stuff, they start getting notions about blowing up landmarks.”

Beautiful.

I seem to be developing a cold at the worst possible time: crunch time, two days before the exam. On the plus side, we have a little more time to prepare our paper(s) than I expected, so I’m not worried about time. For once.

It’s back to the boardroom for me. One of the guys in my class works in the building we spend the week in, and he can get one of the nice boardrooms upstairs for us to work in. Much better than a cramped little breakout room. Anyway, it’s fixin’ to be a long night.

By the way, one of the guys in the class keeps breaking into a really bad Indian accent. There’s also sexual innuendo flying left and right, and other generally unacceptable behaviour…some from the prof, some from the class. I’m not a prude, and it’s pretty much impossible to shock me, but somewhere our VP of HR is getting a shiver down her spine.
