Headz!!

Big news for my old home town (kind of; I grew up on a farm about 25km away): a game company plans to open a plant there, creating 1,500 jobs. Considering the town is only about 1,200 people today, that’s significant. Increasing the town’s population by 125% in the next 18 months or so should be all kinds of fun for the infrastructure planners.

There’re weird rumours, too, that I’ve heard through the grapevine (read: my mother) about a commercial featuring the Hanson Brothers and a woman who lives down the road from our farm. It’s all very surreal.

By the way, to help you figure out where this magical story takes place, here’s a map.

  1. Funny you should mention that. My father had a pretty good crop this year, and expects it to be the biggest ever in North America. Happily enough, from an economics standpoint, he also expects the price to be quite high. Yay.

  2. Hansen Brothers will be there in Parrsboro doing commercials and signing autographs. As will some NASCAR guys that they sponsor. Saw a TV new report the other night and the President of the company is saying that if they go to 1500 workers he wants 1/3 to 1/2 to live in Parrsboro. When you add on families to that number the Town could double or more in size so infrastructure is a big thing (needs a hospital and update the school).

  3. I know for a fact that Parrsboro is going to be a place again on the world map as we see it every day and we can see the changes happening everyday and yes there will be 8 commercials shot in Parrsboro with the Hanson Brothers and Cascar and Nascar with Parrsboro being the Headline and yes there is many people in Parrsboro who will be in the commercials and all national news stations will be broadcasting this event on Sept. 5th to the 7th in Parrsboro keep updated on our website:

  4. Disgruntled and dimayed by how a man can come to a small town like Parrsboro and announce big plans to change a whole community with words or dreams that seem insurmountable. We have heard it all before from candidates vying for an election win and then disappearing after the vote is over. I think Ceo Kerry Martins should have to stand up in front of the whole populace and explain his ” B S “
