Doopy doopy doo. Whilst I wait for inspiration to strike (I’ve reviewed and studied about as much as I feel like iI can), here’re a few interesting tidbits of news that caught my eye:

  • United 93 is premiering at the Tribeca film festival next month. It’s high on my list of must-see movies this spring, partly because of the gripping subject matter, and party because it’s directed by Paul Greengrass, whose work I enjoy immensely. I can only imagine it will draw some controversy, but it’s been 5 years since the attacks and if anyone can handle it, it’s New Yorkers. They’re not much for shying away from things.
  • Toronto, on the other hand, has been hemming and hawing about the waterfront since before I moved here. However, as Christopher Hume reports in the Star, it appears they’re taking the first steps toward the redevelopment they’ve been promising for years. However, I shall believe it when I see it.

OK. Back to studying. Or pretending to study.

A few of us couldn’t bear the thought of what we were offered for lunch, so we made a trip to Wendy’s. Now I’m all full and salty, but satisfied.

This afternoon’s gonna be very weird. I have little left to study, so I’m just going to review a few extra things and…I don’t know, relax I guess. Maybe catch up on some work or some emails. I guess I should be thankful that we’re getting it easy, but…I don’t know, I just feel like I’m being lazy. But we’re all in this boat.

Hee hee hee! Ah, Bruce MacKinnon, you make the day that much easier to start…

We’re in the home stretch now. Friday never seems like much work, so today is the only full day left.

Day 4 is kaput. This was the hardest one to get through, in that I nearly fell asleep many times and drifted off frequently. What made it worse is that there was a really interesting, really informative research presentation going on back at work that I would so rather have been at.

Our “homework” for tonight was to review the sample exam so that we can go over it tomorrow. I’ve already done the freakin’ sample exam, so now I’m not sure what to do with myself. Maybe I’ll do it again just for shits & giggles.

John Doyle asks the same question in the Globe today that I asked last week: what happened to The Shield?

One weird thing about this building: it’s incredibly dry. My skin is so dry that my knuckles are cracking and bleeding, and my face looks like I’ve just gone for a job through the Alkali salt flats. I guess it’s because I’m living in recycled air 24 hours a day, or because the towels are like #30 sandpaper.

I cannot believe how stupid this movie looks. Which means it’ll do great business at the box office.

Day three is behind us. I have a few minutes’ break and then head back over to the “social center” for a little group chat with our company’s COO. This morning we had a presentation from our Chief Economist, so it’s been an executive kind of day.

We also had a complete shift in the approach of our prof. We were going way too slow, and some people said something, so now we’re off to the races. We still haven’t encountered anything difficult, and I’m starting to think I’m spending effort on the wrong things. I’m just going to work through some of the sample exam tonight after this COO thing and go from there. I think everything else may be, as one colleague likes to put it, an “attractive nuisance”.

Honestly, this feels too easy to me. I know I don’t have that good a grip on economics, so either this course is geared too low for us or the other shoe is gonna drop on Friday morning.

Day two: down. Just finished most of my “homework”. Will probably get something to eat, finish the rest, review some other stuff and maybe watch 24 before heading to the bar to see who’s out and about. No exercise tonight: it’s yoga and volleyball in the gym.

Have been having weird computer problems all day. Half the time my laptop can’t find an IP address on this network, but it only seems to be my laptop. The tech support guy thinks it might be a security policy that was pushed down last week and is causing some problems for me now. All I know is, it seems to come and go randomly, so…argh.
